Stop-Motion Witches Planned?

The Witches to be stop motion?Word just came down via Empire Online today that Alfonso Cuaron will not be directing, but rather producing the upcoming re-adaptation of Roald Dahl’s The Witches. In addition, it’s looking like the film’s not going to be yet another live-action version of the book, but something a little bit cooler.

“It won’t be like the original Nicolas Roeg version, which was a beautiful film,” he told the mag, “[Del Toro wants] do it completely in stop-motion animation” Now that’s an exciting prospect, no? Can you imagine how badass that could be?

Oh, and to add another level of cool to possibilities; Guillermo del Toro is now talking about directing The Witches. Now to be honest, it’s a bit difficult to get too excited about yet another directorial project for the Spanish madman considering what’s on his plate already, but one can’t help but feel a glimmer of excitement about how twisted this could turn out.
