Saw V & Repo DVD Date & Specs

Saw V & Repo DVDs announced! The folks over at DVD Active got a look at a trade ad for the upcoming “>Saw V DVD release, which something tells me isn’t going to fly off the shelves like the others did. Maybe because it was a POS?

Anyway, the DVD hits on January 20th and will come in both a Unrated Director’s Cut and an Unrated Collector’s Edition. Just to confuse things. Commentary by director David Hackl and first AD Steve Webb, as well as a second track with producers Mark Burg and Oren Koules and executive producers Peter Block and Jason Constantine will be included. There will also be five featurettes (The Pendulum Trap, The Cube Trap, The Coffin Trap, The Fatal Five, Slicing the Cube: Editing the Cube Trap) and the trailer, and the Blu-ray edition will have a “digital copy” of the movie, as well.

But wait, there’s more! Repo! The Genetic Opera will also street on January 20th, and Fangoria got the lowdown on what will be on that.

Specs on the standard edition will include:

  • Audio commentary by director Darren Lynn Bousman and actors Bill Moseley, Alexa Vega and Ogre
  • Audio commentary by Bousman, creators Darren Smith and Terrance Zdunich and music producer Joseph Bishara
  • “From Stage to Screen” featurette
  • “Legal Assassin—A Repo Man on the Edge” featurette
  • Theatrical trailer
  • And the Blu-ray edition will have:

  • Video sing-alongs

      MMMMMMMMMMMM…Maple syrup…

    • Chainsaw

Of course they decide to piggyback Repo against their own big name DVD release. What a bunch of fucktards. I can only hope Repo somehow outsells it 2 to 1.

      • FilmCritic3000

I’m so eager to see “Repo!”, it’s crazy. The clips online make me salivate that much more. I hope it lives up to the hype.

And hey Chainsaw, just think of when we’re senior citizens and the little ones gather round as we tell the tale of the once great horror provider, Lionsgate. That is, assuming they don’t go the way of Vestron or Trimark in their attempt to become more “respectable” thanks to the idiocy of their new president.

        • Chainsaw

I don’t think our kids are going to be buying Lionsgate logo t-shirts any time. Mostly because I believe we’re all going to be nudists in the future.

          • PelusaMG

Not in bloody Minnesota we’re not – Have you seen the temperature?

            • Gus Bjork

You haven’t lived here long enough for your body to acclimate. Give it another year or two and soon enough your skin will start to secrete a thick oil during the winter and your blood becomes the constitency of maple syrup.

            • PelusaMG

Maybe, but I’m telling you that when people first settled in this part of the country it was definitely not in the winter. Poor buggers… Can you imagine their shock when one day it’s all sunny and lovely 70 degree temperatures, and then the next it’s down to zero and snowing!

            • Gus Bjork

Lionsgate could make a horror movie about it if they ever got back to their roots. You could make it a historical slasher called “Numbnuts”

            • PelusaMG

              That’s funny!

            • Chainsaw

Dude, don’t give them any ideas.

            • Gus Bjork

But it’s a good idea! It’s like those Italian porn films that get all dressed up in gladiator times or pirate stuff. It’s still just porn but there’s something about setting in a different time period that has appeal. That and snow. I dig movies set in ice and snow. Although I suppose a porn in the snow would be pretty uncomfortable.

And thus the comments go full circle.

    • FilmCritic3000

Does “Saw V” come with the good version of the film?

    • David

Right now I’m just happily surprised that Lionsgate is putting out Blu-rays of the films they unceremoniously dumped to limited releases. I hope The Burrowers gets the same HD treatment and then we can put this ugliness behind us.
