Kaiju Monster Invasion heading for Miami (click for larger image)It just figures that after I leave Florida, quite possibly the coolest art exhibit ever is poised to debut in Miami’s Art Center of South Florida.

Opening on Wednesday, December 3, 2008, Kaiju Monster Invasion is a multi-disciplinary art show whose primary focus is the artistic interpretation of Japanese kaiju (giant beasts from the golden age of Japanese film and television). Sponsored by STRANGEco, the Purveyors of the Peculiar, Kaiju Monster Invasion will feature amazing artwork by many of the top exponents of low-brow and pop surrealist movements. Plus, internationally acclaimed Japanese artists will be participating as well, making this show a rare occasion that brings the best of the East and West interpretations of Kaiju under one roof.

The show incorporates a retail shop with a host of special edition items produced by STRANGEco and designed by artists participating in the show, including never-before-seen items by Jim Woodring, Mars-1, Ron English, Anthony Ausgang, Amanda Visell and others. Best of all, the event is free and open to the public and includes an opening reception on December 3rd from 8:00-10:00 pm at 800 Lincoln Road, Miami, FL 33139.

There’s also a meet & greet/signing with the artists on December 5th. For more info hit the STRANGEco link above or contact the Art Center of South Florida at 305.674.8278.
