Spinning off Death Note

The fine folks over at Twitch Film have learned that, following the massive success of Shusuke Kaneko’s fine Death Note films, there are plans for a spin-off franchise following the exploits of “L” – the story’s quirky protaganist.
Hoga News got some details; “L” is the world famous genius detective, but his real name is hidden and his appearance is quite eccentric, and Matsuyama’s act as “L” has won big enthusiastic support. [Director] Matsuyama says, “I thought I did everything I could by the second part, but after 3 months, I started to feel that maybe I could do something more.”
Considering how insanely cool the character is, this can only be good news. Keep your eyes peeled here for our review of BOTH Death Note films in the next few days.
