More casting news has arrived for Roland Emmerich’s 20-years-in-the-making Independence Day sequel as The Wrap is reporting that “Boardwalk Empire”‘s Travis Tope is in talks for an undisclosed role.

If signed he’ll join the previously announced Liam Hemsworth, Vivica A. Fox, Bill Pullman, Jeff Goldblum, and Jessie Usher in the film. Hemsworth will play Pullman’s son-in-law, while Usher will play Fox’s son. Tope will play Charlie, though character details were not immediately available. Fox, Goldblum, and Pullman will be reprising their roles from the first film.

Director Roland Emmerich will return to helm the film. Independence Day 2 is set for release on June 24, 2016 — almost exactly 20 years from when the first film hit theaters on July 3, 1996. Dean Devlin, Emmerich and Harald Kloser are producing. James A. Woods and Nicolas Wright wrote the most recent draft.
