One of the biggest selling books in Italy’s recent history, I Kill, has a new director attached and is getting ready to shoot very soon according to Variety.
The film, about a serial killer who calls in to the same radio show to request a song before he starts his killing, was first mentioned a while back as a possible vehicle for David Cronenberg, a rumor that was quickly squashed. Fried Green Tomatoes and 88 Minutes helmer Jon Avnet just finished a second pass on the script, which he will direct when it’s ready to go.
Aurelio De Laurentiis, nephew of Dino, will be producing the film with the help of his son, Luigi. From the sounds of it we could have an old-fashioned giallo on our hands with this one, but who knows what will come of it.
