Summit Acquires Twilight Sequels

Summit gets Twilight sequel rightsThough it shouldn’t be surprising in the least, THR reports this morning that Summit Entertainment has officially snatched up the rights to Stephenie Meyer’s three Twilight sequels: “>New Moon (review), “>Eclipse (review) and Breaking Dawn.

Melissa Rosenberg, who wrote the “>Twilight screenplay, has been brought on board to pen the first two sequels, but no writer has been attached to Breaking Dawn as of yet.

Now Summit just has to hope the film does well when it opens next Friday (get your tickets here!), but more importantly that it’s actually a good movie with some legs so all those freaky, screaming fans out there will only want more. We’ll keep you updated on the sequels, even if it’s the last thing we want to do. That’s just how we roll.

That’s why I stopped reading pre-release interviews or listening to commentaries that weren’t done more than 20 years after the release of the film.
