The Great Wall Continues its Great Cast

A load of casting news is here for Legendary’s fantasy horror flick The Great Wall, as THR is reporting that a host of new actors have signed on for active duty alongside the previously announced Matt Damon, Pedro Pascal, and Willem Dafoe.

According to the site, notable Chinese stars Andy Lau, Jing Tian, Zhang Hanyu, Eddie Peng, Lu Han, Lin Gengxin, Zheng Kai, Chen Xuedong, Huang Xuan, and Wang Junkai have all joined the film.

Universal has dated the film for release in 3D on Friday, November 23, 2016, with the Chinese market opening during the 2016 holiday season.

The film will be produced by Thomas Tull, Charles Roven, Jon Jashni, and Peter Loehr. Jillian Share, Alex Gartner, Bennett Walsh, La Peikang, and Zhang Zhao will executive produce with Er Yong, Alex Hedlund, and Eric Hedayat co-producing. Production is set to begin in China at the end of March 2015.

The Great Wall follows a soldier who is part of a group of mercenaries traveling to China in order to bring back gunpowder to Europe. When the group is attacked by mystical beasts, the man finds himself in a war between a secret warrior clan and the beasts.
