New Romero Project Gets a Name? Island of the Dead

George Romero's new zombie film casts upFor those of us Dead faithful out there eagerly anticipating George A. Romero’s latest trip into the world of the flesh eater, it’s time to rejoice! The film finally has a name! At least, according to IMDB…

What they’re now calling Island of the Dead, instead of the previously listed Untitled Romero Project, is set to wrap principal photography today up in Canada, and I for one couldn’t be more giddy. The film, which is set right after the events in Diary of the Dead, takes place on a fishing island off the northeastern coast that is inhabited by two struggling and warring family factions. Add the dead into the mix, and you can bet bloody chaos will ensue.

“The movie has a lot of elements from Dawn,” said Romero when I chatted with him a few months ago, and I’m sure that statement alone is music to a lot of fans’ ears.

We’ll get you official confirmation of the title when it comes, but for now keep it right here for what I can promise you will be some stellar coverage of the new flick that you’re not going to find anywhere else!

You're such an inspiration for the ways that I will never, ever choose to be.

Could those warring factions have names like the Democratsteins and the Republicansens?

Can you see Romero’s glasses from space, like the Great Wall of China?

I want to look forward to this. I want to love it when I see it. I just for some reason envision this as another everybody yelling at everybody else deal with some zombies now and then. I dig where he’s coming from, showing the human condition under stress and making bad decisions and such but I have to say a being a little bit more subtle would go a long way. I don’t know if I will grow to love Diary like I did Day but holy moley when Joe Pilato out acts you, you know it’s time to start thinking about night school.

“Takes place right after the events in Diary” I thought this wasn’t gonna be a sequel ? I was really looking forward to this but just couldn’t get into Diary at all and was hoping this one was gonna be a fresh start

All “Diary” was was an account of the initial outbreak. This story is not a direct sequel but it does take place within the same time line.

Oh jeez! So it’s the “Saw IV” equivalent of the zombie genre…

two struggling and warring family factions….for some reason when I read that I am thinking a bunch of inbred rednecks…..

hope to hell he keeps the inner message a little more silent this time (unlike Diary)

    • Uncle Creepy

Nope, no rednecks here. Trust me, I know.
