The Road Not Ready

First pic from The Road (click to see it bigger!)It looks like you may have to adjust your plans of taking the family out to see “>The Road this Thanksgiving, according to a story in this morning’s THR. Though it was scheduled for a limited release on November 14th followed by a wider release on the 26th, it’s now being pushed to December and may not hit in 2008 at all.

Directed by John Hillcoat and based on the best selling novel by Cormac McCarthy, The Road is still in post and, according to sources close to the film, nowhere close to being done. Of course no reason is given, and I can’t help but be curious if this is due to technical reasons or the director just not being happy when what’s been done so far.

Harvey Weinstein definitely wants The Road to be a 2008 movie, sources say, but right now its not looking like a realistic possibility. Do you think he’ll be okay? I worry about the guy. Don’t forget to keep your eyes on The Road‘s official site for updates!

I finished the book 2 nights ago (loved it) just to be ready for the movie… I dunno, I’m hoping “Weinstein” and “delay” is not synonymous with “reshoots” this time…

  • Maleficent

Damn, this is disappointing. I have been looking forward to this movie for a while now. Hopefully it will still come out this year. I have every faith that it will be a faithful and great adaptation of a great novel.

  • Gus Bjork

Maybe they are reshooting scenes to lighten it up some. Like a scene where Viggo takes out a cannibal and says “What’s eating you?” and winks at the camera.

  • Doc Block

At least there’s a good reason for this thing being delayed. It’s still in post-production. Unlike Midnight Meat Train, Repo, and Trick ‘r Treat, which have all been finished and are just waiting to see a theater.

If they’re in post, they should be done with principal photography… What gives? Editing not going well? Effects shots not working out?
