Jonathan Liebesman to helm Battle: Los AngelesThe man who made the jump from Darkness Falls to The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning, Jonathan Liebesman, is now prepping to make yet another leap up the Hollywood ladder with the sci-fi/action pic called Battle: Los Angeles according to THR this morning.

The film follows a group of Marines as they go head-to-head with an alien invasion on the streets of LA. What’s interesting is how Liebsman landed himself the job; the South African helmer went out and shot sequences in and around LA and Santa Monica, then created his own vision of the alien invasion using post-production CG. Apparently this vision impressed producer Neal Moritz and Columbia enough to grant him the gig.

Battle: Los Angeles, which we first told you about back in April, was penned by General’s Daughter writer Chris Bertolini. At the time they said they’d be in production within six months and it looks like they might be running pretty close to that schedule. My question is; if aliens landed and wanted to take over, would LA really be worth saving?
