Click to see it bigger!6 Angels (2006)
Directed by Luis Almeida

Another convoluted plot, or just some confusing writing on the York Entertainment site? I can’t really tell, but this premise confuses me. It’s about a girl who goes into a coma back in 1988 and wakes up 12 years later as an angel of The Circle, an exclusive club formed by God after Jesus was killed to keep the Earth in balance. Or something. Somehow this means she gets to fight evil and try to prevent a war in heaven from spilling over to the Earth. Or something like that. Buy it here!

Click to see it bigger!Blood of the Vampie/The Hellfire Club (1958/1963)
Directed by Henry Cass/Robert S. Baker

Dark Sky Films attempts to recreate the drive-in experience for horror fans, to which we have give thanks. The first film, Blood of the Vampire, is about a madman who was thought killed but returns to life thanks to a heart transplant. He terrorizes a young couple while working on the inmates of a prison hospital to keep himself alive. The Hellfire Club, a man returns home to reclaim his home but is stopped by his evil cousin. The only way to get what’s his is to go through his cousin, who unfortunately has The Hellfire Club on his side. And something tells me they’re not a group of semi-professional knitters. Bloodshed on DVD!Bloodshed (2006)
Directed by Jim McMahon

I searched all over for the cover art to this DVD and imagine my disappointment, after seeing some of the other artwork out there for this film, when I found it covered by this cheap, Wolf Creek poster knock-off. Ah, well, perhaps the film will be worth it though; Two brothers who rely on one another for everyday life suddenly find a girl’s dead body in their basement and a lot of unanswered questions. Could it be the doing of brother Frank, who’s spent his entire life suppressing a homicidal rage in an effort to not end up like their father? Buy it here!

Click to see it bigger!Boxer’s Omen (1983)
Directed by Chih-Hung Kwei

A new Shaw Brothers release. That should be all you need to run out and get this DVD like nowish, but if you need more convincing I’ll give you a bit. The story is about a boxer who, after suffering in injury in the ring, enlists the aid of his brother to avenge him and find a the key to stopping the curse that has plagued their family for decades. Crazy monsters, crocodile skeletons, sexy female zombies, flying human heads and a lot more await our hero. What more do you need?! Buy it here!

Click to see it bigger!Dark Harvest 3 (2006)
Directed by Ben Dixon

Ah, more fodder for the Foy! Lionsgate proves they really don’t like us fans too much by releasing yet another movie about killer scarecrows, which is not a direct sequel to either Dark Harvest movies (sorry, fans), but the re-titled release of a film called Skarecrow. Back in 1921 a witch made an effigy of a scarecrow to curse the family who were going to kill her. 60 years later one of the families descendents decides to take some friends to the place of the witches death. I’m sure a whole lot of nothing happens. Buy it here!

Click to see it bigger!Death of Poe (2006)
Directed by Mark Redfield

Back in 1849, famed author Edgar Allen Poe set out on a trip from New York to Virigina, but he never made it. To this day no one knows what really happened to Poe, but filmmaker Mark Redfield tries to find out across two DVDs. Also included are to early adaptations of Poe’s work; 1914’s “The Avenging Conscience” and 1915’s “The Raven”, as well as a bonus CD soundtrack. Buy it here!

Click to see it bigger!Devil Times Five (1974)
Directed by Sean MacGregor/David Sheldon

Well, it’s got two things going for it out of the box; a cool title and a cool DVD cover. Let’s hope the film itself makes this a quality trifecta! After their van turns over in the Colorado Mountains, five kids from a mental institution seek shelter in a fancy mountaintop resort. Though at first they seem innocent enough, in fact all these kids are raving psychopaths with plans to kill everyone in the house, and the proceed to do so in increasingly nasty ways. I’ve never heard of it before this, but it sure sounds like a helluva lot of fun! Buy it here!

Click to see it bigger!H6: Diary of a Serial Killer (2005)
Directed by Martin Garrido Baron

Finally, after months and months of date changes and release shifts, the freaky Spanish horror film H6 comes home. This is not the sort of film you should watch if you have anything that could be considered a weak stomach, so be warned. It’s very, very nasty, sickeningly graphic and twisted from start to finish. So why would I recommend such a thing to you guys? Because it’s also intelligent and beautifully shot, using the most grotesque of situations to show something almost beautiful. Check out my DVD review of it here for more! Buy it here!

Click to see it bigger!Kiss the Boys (2006)
Directed by Greg Osborne

Wow, now this one sounds convoluted; a plastic surgeon named Sam has the perfect life; a good job, a beautiful wife, and more money than he knows what to do with. But when a teenager Sam killed when he was younger, Scott, comes back to life and takes over Sam’s body, things start getting nice and fucked up. He ends up killing 4 of Hollywood’s most popular male escorts before being caught and sent to death row. But is that the end of his reign of terror? Doubt it. Buy it here!

Click to see it bigger!Love Thy Neighbor (2006)
Directed by Paul Schneider

After a violent home invasion leaves her almost dead, Laura Benson is just looking to start somewhere fresh. She and her husband sell their house and move to a seemingly idyllic suburban gated community. As is with all neighborhoods in suburbia, however, there is some serious evil dwelling within those gates in the form of their next-door neighbor. But is Laura really being pursued by another stalker or is the first out for revenge? Or she just batshit insane? Buy it here!

Click to see it bigger!Man-Eater (2004)
Directed by Buranee Rachjaibun & Nida Suthat Na Ayutthaya

A young man sets from China to try and make a better life for himself in Thailand. Wait a second, wouldn’t it make more sense the other way around? Anyway, all he finds in Thailand is persecution and a lack of acceptance, which is not helped by the fact that he’s suffering from tuberculosis. After time passes and he less and less liked he does the only thing logical; he starts killing children and eating their hearts to lessen the symptoms of his disease. Whoa, wait, maybe that’s a bit extreme… Buy it here!

Click to see it bigger!Slayer (2006)
Directed by Kevin VanHook

That kooky VanHook returns with his arsenal of martial artists, or at least dancers, and his biggest gun of all; Casper Van Dien. The story finds Van Dien as a solider now, stalking the jungles of South America looking for vampires. When he finds the vampires he then as to kill the vampires, which isn’t as easy as you might think. Another lackluster vampire movie to add to the impressively large pile that already exist, and the DVD doesn’t even have any descent features. Read my review of it here anyway, cause you know you’re not going to get any work done. Buy it here!

Click to see it bigger!UKM: Ultimate Killing Machine (2006)
Directed by David Mitchell

It’s true you know; when you find yourself in a movie with once-cool actor Michael Madsen, death really is the only option. The story here revolves around two brothers who, after weighing their options, decide the Army is the best route for their lives to take. Apparently it’s too good for them, as they become part of a medical experiment facility that’s turning them all into UKM: Ultimate Killing Machines! Sounds like fun to be, but for some reason they’re not inclined to learn and now much fight their fellow students to make it out alive. Find out if it’s worth your time right here, then decide if you should buy it here!
