Black Out gets film treatmentAccording to a story on THR this morning, the latest novel from Beautiful Lies author Lisa Unger, Black Out, has been optioned for big screen treatment by long-time Martin Scorsese producer Barbara De DeFina as well as Austin Chick and Andrew Kletjian.

Though not horror in the strictest sense, the tense and twist-filled plot revolves around a woman named Annie living the perfect domestic life in Florida, unaware that her dark past as the accomplice to spree killer Martin Geary is about to come back to haunt her. Annie was rescued from the killer by her husband, but her memory was damaged in the process so when Geary tracks her down, she’s in a race against time to piece together her past before it’s too late.

Austin Chick, an uncredited contributor to the script for Before the Devil Knows You’re Dead, will adapt Black Out for the screen and direct. “Lisa’s book is about the character’s psychological journey,” Chick told the trade. ”It initially seems to be about one thing but gets more complex as you peel away the layers of the story.”

Sounds like it could be pretty interesting if they pull it off. We’ll keep you in the loop as the project develops, but if you want to know more, be sure you click here to get Black Out through Evilshop!
