A new year is here along with a new production company, which has a new film in the works that we’re about to tell you about for the first time. Somewhere Baby New Year just shit his diaper.

Director, producer, and writer Rick Bieber (FLATLINERS, RADIO FLYER) and Ken Clark have partnered to form a new independent feature film production company, MiNDS i CiNEMA. The first project under the banner will be the demonic love story THE OTHER.
Based on a screenplay which was written and will be directed by Rick Bieber, the film will star Dominic Sherwood (TAKE DOWN, VAMPIRE ACADEMY), Jill Hennessy (“Crossing Jordon,” “Law & Order,” WILD HOGS), Emmy Award Winner Drea de Matteo (“Sons of Anarchy,” “The Sopranos,” DARK PLACES), Charlbi Dean (PACIFIC STANDARD TIME), and Sinclaire Schaefer.
THE OTHER begins shooting in Los Angeles in January 2015. Highland Film Group (HFG) is handling international sales with Jay Cohen of The Gersh Agency representing the domestic sale. THE OTHER is the first feature film from MiNDS i CiNEMA, which is fully funded with the agenda of financing and producing two films per year. The company has a well-developed slate of completed screenplays with upcoming production commitments which will be announced in the coming months.
The psychological horror stars Dominic Sherwood as Zach Bradford, a young man tormented by the possibility of descending into the depths of insanity, or worse, becoming the target of an actual demonization. The terrors surrounding Zach, his family, and friends grow to deadly proportions; and he is forced to question his sanity and fears for his girlfriend Shawn’s (Charlbi Dean) safety. Once the threat of psychotic behavior reaches its climactic conclusion, Zach is confronted with an unimaginable horrific reality.
Rick Bieber said: “Although unquestionably scary, THE OTHER is also a classic love story with believable characters confronting provocative and somewhat spiritual themes. It’s our hope that the new company will produce very commercial films with evocative story lines and strong and well developed characters, regardless of genre. We’re anxious to create an appealing new home for talented emerging and established filmmakers and actors alike.”
Ken Clark added: “The team at MiNDS i CiNEMA have a broad background across both entertainment and finance. We are confident that this is a combination guaranteed to produce creative product, which also secures responsible financial investments and return for our partners.”
Bieber has been a high-profile film and television executive and an award-winning director, writer, and producer. He wrote, directed, and produced the feature film THE 5th QUARTER starring Aidan Quinn, Andie McDowell, and Ryan Merriman, which Fox released, as well as the feature film CRAZY starring Waylon Payne and Ali Larter.
Clark founded and served as chairman of First Guarantee Mortgage Company, building the company into the country’s largest independent mortgage company. He is also an accomplished lecturer and author of The Story Behind the Mortgage and Housing Meltdown: The Legacy of Greed and the novel Deadly Instinct.
