So now that Joel Schumacher has a cast in place for his first horror film in many years, the question is if he still has it in him to pull off a truly scary movie.
Unfortunately the film in question, Town Creek, is a vampire film, so already it’s one of the un-scariest of subgenres due to it’s repetition. I won’t hold that against Joel, though, as long as the idea is original enough to carry the film and this one sure has some potential…
The first bit of casting has gone down today according to The Hollywood Reporter in the form of Dominic (“Prison Break”) Purcell and Jess (“Desperate Housewives”) Metcalfe. The duo have signed on to play to brothers on a mission of revenge who become entangled in an occult experiment that dates back to Hitler’s Third Reich. I have to admit the premise is intriguing, but it sure as hell would be cooler with werewolves, don’t you think?
Maybe it’s just me. Shooting is expected to commence on March 1st, with Lionsgate ultimately distributing across the country. Shumacher’s next film, the Jim Carrey thriller The Number 23, opens February 23rd; be sure to click here for more information on it.
Hope the vampires at least look cool in our forums!
