As the title implies, in this three-disc set are six brand-new short films from some of Spain’s most interesting directors like Paco (Romasanta, REC) Plaza (“The Christmas Tale”), Alex (Day of the Beast) de la Iglesia (“The Baby’s Room”), and Jaume (REC, The Nameless) Balaguero (“To Let”), just to name a few. An American Crime (2007)

It’s strange to me that a movie with Ellen Page … sorry, Academy Award nominee Ellen Page … wouldn’t be able to get theatrical release, even if the subject of said film is about as taboo as you can get. American Crime is an adaptation of the true story that inspired Jack Ketchum’s The Girl Next Door, about a woman and her 7 children who are tasked with taking care of 2 more girls during one long summer and the humiliations the children suffer at her hands. Bloody Nightmares

Here’s a nice, subtle collection of horror films from Mill Creek. Just a few, really, nothing of any real consequence. Oh, wait, that’s right, there are 100 movies in this set! 100! And the really strange thing? This is only one of about five 50+ horror collections due out today! Look for Catacomb of Creepshows, Chilling Collection, Legends of Horror, Masters of Darkness, Mortuary of Madness and Tales of Horror while you’re getting this set. You could easily end up with over 300 films for pennies each! Buy it here!
Boris Karloff: Master of Horror

I didn’t include this one in the above list because, well, it’s Karloff. He deserves his own entry, don’t you think? Especially for a collection that puts 20 of his films together in one package; that’s just damn impressive. Some of the movies you’ll find in this set from Mill Creek Entertainment include Sabaka, The Island Monster, The Terror, Doomed to Die, Dick Tracy Meets Gruesome and King of the Wild. Buy it here!
Dexter: The Complete 2nd Season

I’m sad to say I still have not seen a single episode of this show, though I’ve been told my more people than I can count that is something I need to remedy double quick. Who has the time? Sigh. Anyway, the entire second season of the hit Showtime series about a man who is both a serial killer and a forensics expert is finally out on DVD for those of you that have seen or want to see it, including a ton of features that’ll make you sickos smile! Evil Awakening (2008)

Wow, what a boring cover. Doesn’t even imply something waking up, let alone an evil waking up. Anyway, the film is about the small town of Ludlow that was once plagued by an axe-wielding maniac who was eventually brought to justice. But he did swear his revenge before he was put down, so of course he’s back now with all his undead powers and a bigger axe. Blood soon flows again. Buy it here!
Prom Night (2008)

Why did this film scream for a remake? I would’ve rather seen Hello Mary Lou: Prom Night II redone, but no one listens to me. The film is about a bunch of beautiful idiots lead by Brittany Snow, who plays the sole survivor of a family’s massacre at the hands of an insane teacher. Now he’s back to finish the job on the eve of her prom and make with yet another flavorless, useless, painful remake of an 80’s slasher. Things You Don’t Tell (2006)

Well it’s already got a clunky title that doesn’t make a helluva lot of sense in pretty much any context, but what’s it actually about? Things You Don’t Tell is a psychological thriller about three people caught in a web of deceit and lies. A traumatic event happens that rips their worlds apart so the truth starts to come to the surface, and soon their very survival is at stake. I’m glad the plot is so much easier to understand than the film’s title… Buy it here!
The Unseen (1980)

Code Red is back with another nearly forgotten 80’s horror classic! The story follows a television reporter and her two friends who head out to a California Danish festival. When all the hotels in the surrounding area are sold out, a friendly museum curator offers to let them stay in a large, unused farmhouse. They are, of course, more than happy to take him up on the offer, but shortly after arriving, they discover that there is something in the house’s basement. The Wizard of Gore (2007)

Finally we get to see Kasten’s long-awaited remake of the 1970 H.G. Lewis classic The Wizard of Gore thanks to the sickos at Dimension Extreme! Crispin Glover is the titular wizard, a magician who performs a horrific stage show with his lovely assistants (The Suicide Girls!) that soon turns deadly when girls start turning up dead exactly like they do in his show!
