Tripper Release Official

The Tripper release official (click to see it bigger!)Not that it should come as any kind of surprise, but today The Hollywood Reporter made the official announcement that After Dark Films have acquired all the North American rights to David Arquette’s directorial debut, The Tripper.

This news just basically makes official that which was reported last here and gives me an excuse to show another pic from the film, which looks to be a helluva lot of fun if all the advance word is to be believed. In case you’d forgotten, The Tripper is about a group of kids at a Woodstock-esque music festival who are picked off one by one by a Ronald Regan-obsessed serial killer.

A 200-500 theater role out is planned for The Tripper during the first half of 2007 via Freestyle Releasing. Why this doesn’t fall under the blanket of the recent deal After Dark setup with Lionsgate I have no idea, but then such business things rarely make much sense to me. I just like the blood.

For those of you in and around LA, The Tripper will be playing a sneak peek engagement during this weekend’s Horrorfest (which you had all better have plans for); be sure to check your local theater for exact times and dates.
