Corn Remake Rolling Soon

Children of the Corn to be nastier?Looks like He Who Walks Behind the Rows is preparing to make a return to trip to Iowa’s Quad Cities. A reader threw us a heads-up that the Quad City Times has a new article up about the Children of the Corn remake that’s set to go in front of cameras next month.

The shoot’s going down September 3-30, and writer/producer/director Donald Borchers (a producer on the 1983 original) told the newspaper that they’d be staying much closer to Stephen King’s original novella than the first movie did.

“They put a lot of sugar, if you will, into the coffee,” Borchers quipped. “Stephen King doesn’t take his coffee with sugar. We wanted to stay faithful to the decisions in his original story.”

Here’s hoping he’s a man of his word! The Children of the Corn remake will air on the Sci Fi Channel in 2009 but will see a theatrical release across Europe. Stay tuned for casting news very soon!

Dude, whatever there is no reason to remake this at all.
Why can’t people make orinal horror movies anymore! Seriously, so you sit down, and you go, “You know what would be freaky…this!”
Then you write it as a script and get someone to direct it.
Fucking lazy screenwriters, come up with original FUCKING IDEAS!!!

This isn’t a remake. It’s an adaptation. The source material deserves better than what it got.

      • Terminal

Yeah, yeah, I heard that studio double talk crap before. Don’t be stupid, it’s a remake. On the *chortle* Sci Fi Channel. Either way, I hope it’s good.

        • Sirand

That’s not studio talk. That’s a hard fact.
By your logic, Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings is a remake.

  • Terminal

The original “Corn” is crud anyway. “Who Can Kill a Child?” and “Village of the Damned” aced what the movie couldn’t.

  • Johnny Butane

Sci Fi … since it’s airing on the Channel, you see…

  • Justin Warren

Is this the Sci Fi or Dimension Films remake? Either way, that’s promising news. Children of the Corn is a justifiable remake, because it’s a concept that COULD be a horrifying film, but never really was.
