UPDATED: Discount Train Ride? Meat Train Theatre Listings!

The Midnight Meat Train!UPDATE: We found more theatre listings that include the eastern half of the country, so maybe it’s not as bad as we initially thought. See below for the full list, and check your local listings, too, as this may not be everything.

The world of Clive Barker has always been a strange one, and with the release of his new movie, things have gotten a little bit stranger. Apparently the film’s limited release has it landing in budget and second-run theatres across the country.

Bloody Disgusting broke this tidbit of info, and honestly, I don’t know what to think. Given this type of release I cannot fathom how Meat Train will be given even a moderately fair shake to perform at the box office.

In any event, here are the theatre listings. The Midnight Meat Train (review here) hits select theatres on August 1st.

There needs to be a mass boycotting of all things Lionsgate. Seriously.

What they’re doing to this movie is criminal. Releasing it to dollar cinemas? Something needs to be done here.

    • upstartfilm

The Meat Train Stops in Houston, apparently. I just found out that MMT is showing at Premiere Nasa Dollar 8 (Premiere Cinema Movies) 20833 Gulf Freeway, Webster, TX 77598, 281-332-4403. Showtimes (starting tomorrow) are: 1:10pm | 3:15 | 5:25 | 7:35 | 9:40

Hopefully they’ll find a better distributor for the next films. And hopefully there will be such a thing as “next films”… I know that THE BOOK OF BLOOD has already been filmed but surely the commitment to future adaptations must in some way correlate to the profitability to the previous films. Hopefully the deal between Lakeshore and LGF was such that the former isn’t losing money due to the childish behaviour of the latter company.

    • David

A couple weeks ago I heard that MMT will run for only one week in dollar theaters and then the film cans are going back to Lionsgate. They are just doing the bare minimum to complete their distribution contract with Lakeshore. Lakeshore financed the film’s 15 million dollar budget and Lionsgate is just handling the theatrical distribution. A few other horror films are going to get the same treatment from Lionsgate because of a change at the top.

I guess the only bright side is that we can look forward to getting the DVD and Blu-ray from Lakeshore pretty quickly. It’s a damn shame because I’ve really been looking forward to seeing MMT on the big screen.

    • Avid Fan

Anyone know how long the films are slotted to run?

    • MagusMaleficus

So the closest place this flick is showing is in Texas. Crap.

And what’s with all the Texas showings? Is the director from Texas? The screenwriter, perhaps? One of the stars? Seriously, what the hell?

    • Gus Bjork

Maybe they are target marketing Hispanic and Samoan audiences? Is it playing in Pago Pago?

    • The Unknown Murderer

This is, in the words of C.S. Lewis, “damned nonsense”.

I want to see this movie really bad, but no way am I driving 130 miles. I want to see ‘Mandy Lane’ too, and where is it? Nowhere to be found.

I know nothing about movie distribution, but it just doesn’t make sense to me to spend millions creating a film only to dump it into a handful of theaters to fulfill what is most likely a contractual obligation, then put it on DVD in a few months. Why let any film flounder?

Why not spend a bit more to make the money back, at least? Or delay the release ’til October? I just don’t understand.

    • Johnny Butane

Seems odd that it’s only West Coast, too. Nothing in NYC? Really?

      • Doc Block

Joe Drake doesn’t want the movie to make any money. Hence the cheap theaters. Even though I’m still seeing this movie, I’m really considering not supporting SAW V this year.

      • jonny_numb

        Or Philly, for that matter?

    • jonny_numb

I’m with Hunter: fuck Lionsgate in its tin ear.

    • Hunter1006

This is pure bullshit. I live in CA, and there’s not one showing in Los Angeles? Let alone the fact that I’m currently in Boston, MA, and there’s no showings there. I hate having to wait for DVD! Fuck Lionsgate.

    • PelusaMG

Fucking bollocks… no showings in MN!!! We get stuck with eating all manner of crap off a fucking stick and looking at the world’s fattest pig at the pissing State Fair in a few weeks time, whilst others around the country get to oggle this cool flick in all its cinematic gory!

      Double bollocks with cheese!!!

    • Doc Block

One of the theaters is down the street from me (Valley Fair 9). I already have plans to see it 3 times at the theater. I want to support and watch this flick as much as possible.

      • Sirand

You’ll have to see it 12 times to give them the price of a full ticket.

        • Doc Block

I know. 🙁 I just want to see it as many times as I possibly can before it disappears to DVD. Maybe I’ll take the whole week off and see every showtime. 🙂

    • Blockbuster

Holy SHIT!! Oklahoma’s getting 3 of them? Why not Tulsa! I can’t drive that far! Dammit!
