With AFM drawing to a close soon, the last bits of news from the big dance have been fired our way. Right now we have the skinny on a different kind of monster truck called Wrecker.

From the Press Release:
XLrator Media has acquired U.S. distribution rights at the American Film Market to the demonic truck horror-thriller WRECKER from IndustryWorks Pictures, which is currently in post-production. XLrator Media will release the film in summer 2015 on its acclaimed “MACABRE” genre label. IndustryWorks Pictures will release the film in Canada and is selling the international rights at AFM.

XLrator Media and IndustryWorks Pictures recently collaborated on the award-winning horror film and cult classic American Mary, which was produced by IndustryWorks Pictures and released in the U.S. by XLrator Media.

“Evoking such classics as Steven Spielberg’s Duel and Stephen King’s Maximum Overdrive, WRECKER’s monster-truck-from-hell will thrill and terrify audiences and make them reconsider that summer road trip” said XLrator Media CEO Barry Gordon.

WRECKER stars Anna Hutchison (The Cabin in the Woods) and Drea Whitburn and is directed by Michael Bafaro. It is produced by Evan Tylor, John Curtis, and Don Knodel. The story follows best friends Emily and Lesley as they take a road trip to a music festival in the desert. Emily “borrows” her boyfriend’s Mustang GT to make things exciting, but the partying ends when they find themselves pursued by a seemingly psychotic truck driver, who forces them to play a deadly game of cat-and-mouse. With an unknown evil force bearing down on them and a long stretch of deserted highway ahead, their idyllic road trip becomes their worst nightmare.

“WRECKER will revive the classic horror-thriller genre and keep audiences at the edge of their seats,” said Evan Tylor, CEO of IndustryWorks Pictures. “It was fun to create a modern genre film that pays homage to a classic. We don’t see a lot of originality anymore so we wanted to create something a little different this time.”

The deal was negotiated by Caterina Scrivano and John Curtis on behalf of Evan Tylor and IndustryWorks Pictures with Barry Gordon and Mike Radiloff on behalf of XLrator Media.
