Gamescom: BioWare's Shadow Realms Finally RevealedThe slow drip of cryptic teaser trailers was all leading to this moment, one colossal wave of a game reveal at EA’s press conference. It’s official! The game BioWare has been teasing for weeks is the upcoming action RPG Shadow Realms.

“Everything dies; let’s start with you,” was the last thing fans heard before studio general manager Jeff Hickman took the stage. His modus operandi, we’re going old school.

Hickman explained what really inspired Shadow Realms were the old fashioned pen and paper RPG’s like everyone’s favorite, Dungeons & Dragons. Only this time there is a demonic twist.

Shadow Realms will break down into 4 vs. 1 gameplay, with gamers choosing to play as either one of the four heroes or as the evil shadow lord. (Hello, Evolve.) The shadow lord will act like a dungeon master, controlling “every aspect of the game.” This includes the possession ability. No word yet on spinning heads.

The game will be released episodically, “playing out over time like a great TV series.” Shadow Realms will be available on PC in late 2015, but BioWare is holding a closed alpha next month, which you can sign up for at the official Shadow Realms website.
