Horror Game Classic Night Trap May Be Getting a RemakeThere is a way to guarantee the success of anything that waves the horror flag… One simple word… “banned.” In 1992 this seal of disapproval led me, and countless other horror junkies, running to the video store to snag a copy of Night Trap, which is still fully available in Canada.

The former minds behind Night Trap are hoping to send us back into its world of depravity, as far as 1992 standards go, by initiating a Kickstarter campaign to re-master Night Trap. So far the project has garnered $7,779 of its $770,000 goal.

IGN reported that the high-definition elements of the game have already been transferred. The game was shot on 75mm film so it must simply be transitioned to a modern format, rather than be subject to extensive upscaling.

Night Trap is an interactive movie that follows a group of teens set for a weekend of fun in an isolated house. The player must protect them by watching over said house, through a series of security cameras, to save the teens from the game’s countless, “blood sucking creatures.” How do you do that? By utilizing the many traps at your disposal.

Should Night Trap reach its financial goal, it would be released on PC, Mac, Xbox and PlayStation. No word was given as to which Xbox and PlayStation consoles, however.

You can donate to Night Trap’s Kickstarter campaign here.
