AFM 2014: Gravity Becomes a Villain in Scott Waugh’s Inversion

Gravity is awesome. We love gravity. It keeps us all grounded and prevents us from floating around and bumping into shit. But what if gravity decided to follow in the footsteps of Hulk Hogan and suddenly become a bad guy? That would be pretty chaotic, wouldn’t it?

News has just come out of AFM that Scott Waugh (Need for Speed) has been tapped to direct the big-budget sci-fi epic Inversion, which brings this horrifying reality to life. Budgeted at a staggering $120 million, it’s currently in pre-production with a planned start date of late April 2015.

The film follows two unlikely heroes, a young Chinese scientist and a street smart American expat, on a frenzied journey across the globe to save Earth from an apocalyptic threat – a total reversal of gravity that causes whole cities and civilizations to uproot and plummet into the sky.

Written by Bragi Schut (Season of the Witch) and Academy Award nominee David Arata (Children of Men), Inversion will be produced by Academy Award nominee Michael Nozik, Markus Barmettler, and Philip Lee.
