Jeepers Creepers 3 Readies Preproduction

Jeepers 3 is on its wayVictor Salva checked in with the Fango fiends with new info on Jeepers Creepers III: Cathedral, dropping the new subtitle as one of many updates.

First and foremost, the script is done and the sequel is preparing to enter preproduction. The story will have a prologue set in the Old West that details how the Creeper became a terrifying part of Native American folklore and then jumps ahead to the ending of Jeepers Creepers II on the eve of a brand new 23rd spring.

“I will say,” Salva told the mag, “that one aspect of the third film features Trish Jenner [again played by Gina Philips from the original film], who, 23 years later, has a teenage son of her own, named Darry after her long lost brother. Trish is having a terrible recurring dream where her son meets the same terrible fate as her brother. Now a rich and powerful woman, Trish is determined to stop the Creeper once and for all.”

Jonathan Breck will be back under the makeup as the titular beast again, and of course Ray Wise will reprise his role from the second film. Salva promises that JC 3 “brings back all the classic ideas of the first film, but brings them horrifyingly full circle. It also revisits characters from both, lets us learn more about what the Creeper is and, by popular demand, reintroduces the infamous Creeper truck.”

Can I get a hell yeah?

Gina Phillips is 38 in real life. Since her character’s age was never mentioned in part one, it’s safe to assume that she could’ve been a 19-year-old college student during the events of JC1, and then 23 years later she would be 42. So there would really be no aging make-up needed. She was 30 in real life when she filmed JC1! I can’t speak for everyone, but a lot of my friends are ages 35-42 and all of them can pass as 25.

2024 isn’t really that far in the future. Just 16 years. 16 years ago it was 1992 and things weren’t all that different than they are now. Day to day you didn’t have cell phones, ipods, dvd players and computers were somewhat different but you wouldn’t time warp from there to here and be all that shocked.

I’m wary of this becoming ‘who is the Creeper’ though. He’s a favorite monster of mine and I would hate to see him ruined by taking away the mystery.

Dude, I agree. I’d hate to see a “the Creeper is really [insert famous person here]” reveal, or something similar.

Now, what I would like to see is Salva do something badass with the vengeance-driven Trish character. If she’s rich and powerful, give us a fucking 80’s style squad of roughneck commandos, hell bent on blowing the Creeper to kingdom-fucking-come!

    Choir boys…

So this film takes place in 2024? Did I get that right? How does Salva intend to deal with the sci-fi aspects? Will they fight the Creeper with laser pistols and light sabers? I loved the last two films but goddamn, even the prologue of the second film felt ridiculous, what with everybody sporting current fashion and driving a non-futuristic car.

    • spikebizkit

the second film was set the day after the first…so it wouldn’t have even been in the future…technically if you would watch it now, it’d be in the past…lol

  • The Woman In Black

I’m just glad Breck is back — it really wouldn’t be the same without him.

Sounds better than the sequel and Ray Wise is welcome anywhere, but Gina Philips in old make-up?

Is it just me or does Salva constantly alternate between really great and bad decisions?
