First Stills from Argento’s Giallo

Brody makes sure she's deadMake your way over to Dario Argento’s official site, and you’ll be treated to a slew of new images from his latest film, Giallo, which stars Adrien Brody and Emmanuelle Seigner.

The one you see on your right is definitely the best of them, but the rest do give us an idea of the look Argento’s going for with the film, which so far looks pretty old school. You don’t call your film simply Giallo unless you’re willing to live up to the title.

In case you’ve forgotten, Giallo is the story of an American stewardess and an Italian detective teaming up to try and find the stewardess’ sister, who’s been kidnapped by a mysterious black-gloved killer known only as “Giallo”, which is Italian for “Yellow”. No word on when or how the film will be released, but I hope whoever does grab it designs a better poster than the one on the site now. Makes it look like a bad 80’s romantic comedy.

  1. My GOD am I hoping this will be good. Argento is a hero of mine, but I’ve heard some very disappointing things about “Mother of Tears”, and I was disappointed by “The Card Player”, and I really hated “Do You Like Hitchcock?”

Some of my favorite films of all time are Bird W/ The Crystal Plumage, Deep Red, Suspiria, Inferno, and Phenomena. Hell I even loved Trauma (I dig Opera, but the heavy metal kills the suspense for me). I really wish Argento would return to his old, more artistic, extravagant style.

The name alone of this film implies that’s what he’s trying to do, so I wish him the best of luck and I’ve got my hopes up. Again.
