Cannes Tidbits Offer the Latest on Zombeavers, The Master Cleanse, Soulmate and The Night Comes For Us

On tap for you today are lots of little morsels of info regarding four upcoming horror films, so let’s waste no time and jump right in, shall we?!
First up, Screen Daily reports that the horror comedy Zombeavers has been picked up for distribution in a slew of different markets, including Europe (Splendid Films), Spain (A Contracorriente Films), France (Zylo), Australia and New Zealand (Roadshow) and the Middle East (Prime Pictures).
Epic is understood to be closing a multi-territory deal with a major distributor for the UK, Scandinavia, Latin America and Eastern Europe excluding Russia and a pan-Asian pay-TV deal with a studio. Negotiations are ongoing for Russia, Taiwan and South Korea.
Jordan Rubin directed the tale of girlfriends at a lakeside getaway who get attacked by mutant rodents. Evan Astrowsky, Chris Bender, JC Spink, Christopher Lemole and Tim Zajaros produced.
The site also reports that Johnny Galecki, Chloe Sevigny and Angelica Huston will star in the fantasy horror flick The Master Cleanse, described as a potent brew of dark humor and David Cronenberg-style body-horror.
The film centers on a heartbroken man who attends a spiritual retreat, only to discover that the course releases more than everyday toxins and traumatic experiences.
Production is set for early July in Vancouver. Bobby Miller makes his feature directorial debut and additional casting will be announced in due course.
In other news, the UK rights to the Neil Marshall-produced Soulmate have been acquired by Soda Pictures, due for a July release.
Anna Walton (Hellboy 2), Tom Wisdom (300), Nick Brimble (A Knight’s Tale) and Emma Cleasby (Dog Soldiers) star in the story of a young widow who is disturbed by a cottage’s previous inhabitant after a failed suicide attempt.
Writer-director Axelle Carolyn’s feature debut is produced by Claire Otway and is a Neil Marshall presentation for Sterling Pictures.
And finally, the cast of Timo Tjahjanto and Gareth Evans’ The Night Comes For Us has been filled out, as Arifin Putra (The Raid 2), Oka Antara (The Raid 2), Rio Dewanto (Joko Anwar’s Modus Anomali), Prisia Nasution (Sang Penari) and Kelly Tandiono (The ABCs Of Death) have joined the previously announced Julie Estelle and Yayan Ruhian.
The Raid: Redemption‘s Joe Taslim plays a mobster who returns to his local crime family in Jakarta only to find himself trapped in a word of betrayal and chaos.
Raid director Gareth Evans will handle the action direction for the film.
