Horror History: Check Out the Original Press Kit for John Carpenter's The ThingFew films in the history of horror cinema have had a greater impact on the genre than John Carpenter's The Thing. The film, simply put, is as close to perfect as they come. Now it's time to take a look back and check out the press kit for this 1982 masterpiece.

The kit, which has been uploaded to imgur, is dated February 11, 1982, and is filled with all sorts of incredible goodies such as the original press notes, the summary of the film which was not for publication, as well as a wealth of photos, etc.

Check it out below, and then wipe the drool from your mouth and wish you had this bad boy in your collection!

Unfortunately the masses didn't flock to see this in 82 they saw E.T. instead just bad timing . It's a true classic and will forever hold a place in my top 10 all time list .

I didn't see The Thing at the theater due to not wanting to bother my folks about taking me to R rated films. I did see ET at the movies. I was 11 years old at the time and thought to myself "This is what folks are going crazy for?" In other words, I thought ET was shit. When The Thing hit HBO, I was glued to the screen.

I was around 9 when ET came out. I saw it, shrugged, and have literally never seen it since. I thought it was boring and I still dislike Reese's Pieces. Now Goonies, that was a cool movie. And Monster Squad. LOVE me some Monster Squad.
