Exclusive Interview: Jaime Presley Talks A Haunted House 2 Too!In A Haunted House 2, Jaime Pressly plays Megan, the lighter side of an interracial couple with more than the usual problems. A mother of two, she and her kids move in with Malcolm (Marlon Wayans), but little does she know his possessed ex, Kisha (Essence Atkins), is living next door…

And there’s nothing worse than a scorned demonic woman.

Pressly is no stranger to the horror genre (her first starring role was in the straight to video sequel to Poison Ivy, back in 1997), but she’s mostly known for comedy (the actress won two Emmys for her performance as Joy in “My Name Is Earl”) – so what could be more perfect than mixing the two for A Haunted House 2?

We had a chance to sit down with Ms. Pressly at a press junket in Beverly Hills and get the scary scoop, 1:1.

Dread Central: Tell me a little about how you came on to this project with Marlon.

Jaime Pressly: Well, I mean they basically approached me with it, to see if I wanted to do it and I read it, met with the producers, and director. And of course Marlon. Marlon and I have known each other for fifteen years, so this was a great opportunity to finally work together. And you know, that was that. Shoots in L.A., so I didn’t have to take my son out of school. I was all for it.

DC: So for horror fans, what can they expect? I know there is a lot of parodies in this one. What are some of your favorites that they kind of send up?

JP: I think just in general because they were really good at, Marlon and Rick who wrote it were really good about touching on every single horror film that was made. So I mean, it kind of spans every generation because you can look back at The Exorcist and then you can look at the ones like The Conjuring. Like… we completely rebuilt the set of The Conjuring. So we have the identical set to that for one part of it. Anyway, I think the greatest part is though we spoof all the horror films and it’s a comedy we still scare the crap out of people. Everybody gets scared and then you turn around and ten seconds later they are laughing because they realize, ‘Oh My God they just scared me with something that I have seen a million times in films’ and now you’re laughing because we pointed out what you were just afraid of. You know what I mean. It’s the stereotypical thing that scares you all the time for some reason and we point it out. And to the fact that it’s all the stereotypes we make fun of in general with race and what ever else. It’s pretty funny.

DC: I interviewed Essence on the set, she is so sweet. But she doesn’t like you much in the movie though, right?

JP: No, but you don’t know… Well, my character doesn’t know. My character is oblivious to everything.

DC: So, do you have any interaction with the creepy doll? (I saw her on set, great replica) Everyone seems to love the Abigail doll, which is of course, a play on Annabelle from The Conjuring.

JP: You know, the person that interacts with her the most is Marlon. But we did have her in our room. You know, it’s again… my character is oblivious. My character didn’t realize that she was turning her head or watching us during our sex scene. My character had no idea until way after the fact that she (the doll) knew what was going on. So its mainly Marlon who interacts with her.

DC: He has got such a sense of comedic timing and that’s also really important in horror, so can you tell me what it was like to act with him in some of those wacky yet scary scenes?

JP: It is always great when working on a comedy, comedy is my first love, and to be able to work with somebody who is uninhibited as I am when it comes to comedy and unafraid and quick and you know on their toes and ready at all times it makes for a really good team. And he and I work really well together. We both are really unafraid to push the envelope. We kind of loved to push the envelope and make people a little uncomfortable at times. That’s part of what comedy is about, laughing at yourself. And he and I both love doing that. It was really great to team up with somebody who likes to do comedy the same way that I do. We work really well together. He is an incredible comic. He has great timing and he would do a twenty-minute take if you would let him. (laughter) He would just keep going and going and going…
