So we all know that the sequel to the glorified fan film that was Texas Chainsaw 3D will be focusing on Leatherface’s teenage years (acne be damned), but the question remains… who will direct? Can anyone pull this off?
Bloody Disgusting is reporting that they’ve “been told” that “Millennium Films’ top choices are Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo, the duo behind the slasher masterpiece Inside (À l’intérieur), as well as Livide and the forthcoming Among the Living. Also on Millennium’s radar are Kevin Kolsch and Dennis Widmyer, who helmed the absolutely incredible indie Starry Eyes, to be released by MPI/Dark Sky Films this coming November.”
The site goes on to note that “neither party has signed on as of this writing… these are Millennium’s top choices. As always in Hollywood, things can change in an instant.”
Seth M. Sherwood is penning Leatherface, which would take place before Tobe Hooper’s 1974 cult classic, making it a franchise prequel. Millennium Films, who was also behind the 2013 Texas Chainsaw 3D, is once again producing for Lionsgate.
Maury and Bustillo is a very interesting choice, and for our money we hope that they get it. What about you? Who do you think could make this one memorable? Sound off in the comments section below.
