Matt Reeves Will Direct Third Planet of the Apes Film
Apparently the powers-that-be at 20th Century Fox are planning ahead because they've just secured Matt Reeves for the third of the new Planet of the Apes films, which will follow the upcoming flick Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. Read on for more.
According to Deadline, right after 20th Century Fox and Chernin Entertainment began screening his cut of Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, they signed Matt Reeves to direct the third installment of the franchise.
This time he will write the script with Mark Bomback, who scripted the sequel to Rise of the Planet of the Apes, which grossed $482 million worldwide in 2011. The directing deal is done, and the writer deals are being worked out right now. It is likely that Reeves will go right into the third film, a priority for the studio.
Look for Dawn in theatres on July 11th, 2014. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes stars Andy Serkis, Jason Clarke, Gary Oldman, Keri Russell, Toby Kebbell, Kodi Smith-Mcphee, Enrique Muriciano, and Kirk Acevedo.
A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species.
