2014 is looking to be the biggest year for the Frankenstein monster yet with several films being released based on Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley's titular literary character. Shelley crafted her tale, Frankenstein or The Modern Prometheus, way back in 1818. How's that for staying power?

Unless you're either really young, really stupid, or have been living under a rock, you should know the story of Victor Frankenstein's monstrous creation and the havoc it caused, which has enthralled generations of readers and inspired countless writers of horror and suspense.
