Animal Planet Developing Zombie Series The Other Dead

With “The Walking Dead” being such a massive hit for AMC, it was only natural that other networks would be hungry for their own slice of the pie. Syfy recently launched a zombie series, and now Animal Planet is next, set to delve into the world of undead animals. Read on!
Per Variety, the “surprisingly human” network is making a scripted TV show out of the gruesome comic series The Other Dead, which is currently in development. A 2016 premiere date is the plan at this point in time.
From creators Joshua Ortega and Digger Mesch, IDW Publishing’s The Other Dead is set in Louisiana during the “next Hurricane Katrina” and revolves around a world of undead animals and unrelenting storms.
“The entire creative team could not be more excited about this partnership, and the timing for ‘The Other Dead’ series could not be more perfect,” says Ortega. “Zombie animal meets Animal Planet? Sounds like we have some serious undead fun ahead of us.”
Kudos to you, Animal Planet, for stepping outside your comfort zone and trying something new. This series is sure to piss a whole lot of people off, and we love that here at Dread Central!
