More Hannibal Tidbits: When Will We See Gillian Anderson? Is Laurence Fishburne Possibly Leaving? As part of its most recent “Ask Ausiello” spoilers column, TVLine shed a bit of light on the upcoming Season 2 of “Hannibal,” including when we’ll next see fan favorite Gillian Anderson on the show…

Per the site, we won’t have to wait long as Anderson will be back as Hannibal Lecter’s (Mads Mikkelsen) shrink, Dr. Bedelia Du Maurier, in the first two episodes.

Joining her this season are the already announced guest stars Martin Donovan (“Weeds”) as Jack Crawford’s (Laurence Fishburne) FBI shrink while Cynthia Nixon (“Sex and the City”) will appear as Kade Purnell, an employee of the Office of the Inspector General in FBI Oversight who will be putting Jack under a microscope for his involvement with recent events involving Will (Hugh Dancy).

Speaking of Fishburne, TVLine confirmed that while he has signed on to an HBO project that’s in its early stages, it will have no impact on his Season 2 “Hannibal” schedule. He will appear in all episodes produced; however, if the HBO show gets ordered to series, it could possibly limit his role in the third season (if “Hannibal” is renewed) as his contract with NBC is season-to-season.

“Hannibal” will return in early 2014 with a 13-episode season that begins with Episode 2.01, “Kaiseki” (a traditional multi-course Japanese dinner).

“Hannibal,” starring Hugh Dancy as Will Graham and Mads Mikkelsen as Hannibal Lecter, was developed for television by Bryan Fuller, who also serves as writer and executive producer. In addition to Fuller, Martha De Laurentiis, Jesse Alexander, Chris Brancato, Sara Colleton, Katie O’Connell, Elisa Roth, Sidonie Dumas, and Christophe Riandee also serve as executive producers. The series is produced by Gaumont International Television, Dino De Laurentiis Company, and Living Dead Guy Productions and co-commissioned internationally by Sony Pictures Television Networks.
