You're such an inspiration for the ways that I will never, ever choose to be.

Unfortunately when a show like this debuts on DVD and there is no street date, it is usually the case of an Online Retailer just listing the product.

Kinda like advertising it without the commitment.

I loved this show when I was a kid. I would stay up every Friday night until midnight just to see that beauty with the Dokken hair. Micki is still pretty hot, but that 80’s hair is a riot now. My favorite episodes were the ones about the cradle from the Titanic, the wheelchair and The Long Road Home, where Micki and Johnny used a cursed object to escape the creepy taxidermist brothers. The episode about the faith healer that was directed by David Cronenberg was also pretty damn good. Supernatural essentially remade the Scarecrow episode for their first season, didn’t they?

The bootleg version I bought is terrible so I will gladly pick these up.

My wife and I got a bootleg with all the F13:TS episodes on it because I gave her the hard sell on watching it. I watched it religiously as a kid along with Freddy’s Nightmares, Monsters, etc. I remember the “Mesmers Bauble” episode forever etching itself into my brain because of the sequence where the guy and Vanity melt into each other (and then melting apart at the end). The boot we got is pretty good quality overall – it even occasionally has some commercials from the late 80’s/early 90’s which is interesting.

Anyway, yeah, suffice to say I’m stoked for this. F13:TS was actually pretty ballsy for it’s time – it was pretty dark, gory, and violent as TV shows go. Turning Ryan into a kid was pretty weak as I love his character, but the episodes with his replacement Johnny (i.e. “someone that can try and bang Micki and not have it be Deliverance creepy”) aren’t bad.

And I actually liked Werewolf a lot, even though like Butane said, it pretty much became “The Incredible Hulk” with hair.

  • Johnny Butane

Yeah, Werewolf had a good pilot, but that was about it. Then the show turned into Eric going from town to town, meeting people being oppressed by someone, turning into a werewolf and scaring the oppressors, or killing them if they were really bad, and moving on.

The Rick Baker-designed wolf was pretty badass, despite the fact that it couldn’t close it’s mouth…

Man, my wife is going to freak when she hears about F13; she was another devotee, big time.

Werewolf stank. Chuck Conners was pretty mean, but it never got over the made for TV feel, at least for me. I do belive that was his last roll before passing on, if so, kind of a bum note to leave on :(
Anyway, I’ll be buying the F13, loved that show.

  • Terminal

Oh yeah, my response was to Pennywise.

  • Terminal

    NOW you’re on the trolly.

  • Hunter1006

Was/is ‘Werewolf: the Series’ any good? haha

  • Kryten Syxx

The Freddy series was on and off with it’s connection to Freddy. Some episodes would feature him as the villain, others would pass him over completely where he’d only host the episode’s intro and outro.

I remember watching the F13 series every friday night. Never missed an episode until they changed the one cousin into a kid. Lost it there. However, there are a number of really creepy episodes. The very first one for example, and the one about the child-stealing/soul devouring child’s playhouse was also eerie.

  • Hunter1006

Wow that has absolutely no connection to the film series! Is the ‘Freddy’s Nightmares’ series irrelevant to the film franchise as well?

  • Pennywise

You are correct Hunter, the name was basically used as a cash-in by Paramount to lure fans in for the new series, much like was done with Poltergeist: The Legacy. The series is about two cousins who go around collecting objects that had an OMG! DEATH CURSE put on them by Ray Wise… er, Satan.

You wouldn’t even buy it on the cheap, Terminal? Not even during a Deep Discount holiday sale?

  • Terminal

Good series, but not good enough to buy.

  • Hunter1006

Now I don’t know much about this series, but from what I understand, it has no real direct connection to the Friday the 13th films, does it (i.e. Jason and camp counselors).

  • Pennywise

Damn Creepy, way to be quick and on the ball with posting that. Glad to see I’m not the only one that’s super psyched about this dvd being released. Woo-hoo! I got my fake name in a DC news story. And a star was born.

    Or not.
