Seth Rogen Bringing Preacher to AMC?

Preacher Feature Drawing Closer?Big news today for people who are looking forward to the much talked about adaptation of the brilliant Garth Ennis comic Preacher. It sounds as if things are cooking in a really big way. Read on for details.

According to Badass Digest, AMC has ordered a pilot based on the classic Vertigo comic by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon. For those not quite playing along, Preacher tells the tale of down-and-out Texas preacher (Jesse Custer) possessed by Genesis, a supernatural entity conceived by the unnatural coupling of an angel and a demon. Given immense powers, the preacher, teamed with an old girlfriend and a hard-drinking Irish vampire, sets out on a journey across America to find God -- who apparently has abandoned his duties in heaven -- and hold him accountable for his negligence.

The site didn't know who exactly was behind the "Preacher" pilot but heard "the names are big and impressive."

But wait... there's more! One of those names may be Seth Rogen, who took to Twitter with the following tweets:

Stay tuned! More on "Preacher" soon.

If they adhere completely to the comic (which they won't) they'll have an outpouring of hate from right-wing christians around the country.

As for Seth Rogen, he hasn't given any indication that he can handle drama. I know he can do gross-out humor, which is a big part of Preacher, but there's more to the material than that. There's also some pretty big action set-pieces which could prove difficult for a potentially low-budget TV show.
