Dexter-Obsessed Fan Jailed for Dismembering Girlfriend

That’s right. A 17-year-old Brit has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for dismembering his 17-year-old girlfriend. Apparently he was a big fan of “Dexter” and actually wrapped the girl’s body parts in cellophane. What a dope.

According to the UK’s Mirror, Steven Miles, who was 16 years old at the time, killed Elizabeth Thomas, 17, at his family’s home in Oxted, Surrey, in January and pleaded guilty on September 9, one day after what would have been Elizabeth’s 18th birthday. He stabbed her in the head and back and went on to dismember her legs and an arm with tools from his father’s tree surgery business, wrapped the limbs in plastic wrap and placed them in garbage bags before covering her body in a green plastic garden sheet.

Miles had been diagnosed as having an autistic syndrome and had told his family that he had an alter ego named Ed. After the murder, Miles told his sister, “Ed made me do something bad.” Fuck Ed.

Anyway, during the trial it was discovered that Miles is a huge fan of horror films and the television show “Dexter.” Well, I’m a fan of The Rocky Horror Picture Show, but I’ve never had an urge to dress in drag. Once again we have a case of entertainment being taken to task for a crime when the focus should be on mental illness instead.

What’s your opinion on this case?
