Fly Away with The Hunger Games: Catching Fire IMAX PosterJust a few days after the final trailer arrived for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, the film’s IMAX poster, modeled on the work of Kris Kuksi, has been released, and we have to admit it’s quite striking.

Badass Digest debut the artwork and provided the following description of Kuksi’s work, provided by Guillermo del Toro no less:

Kris Kuksi obsessively arranges characters and architecture in asymmetric compositions with an exquisite sense of drama. Instead of stones and shells he uses screaming plastic soldiers, miniature engine blocks, towering spires and assorted debris to form his landscapes. The political, spiritual and material conflict within these shrines is enacted under the calm gaze of remote deities and august statuary. Kuksi manages to evoke, at once, a sanctum and a mausoleum for our suffocated spirit.

Now check out the artwork below and see if you can see the artist’s influence. And be on the lookout for the first clip from Catching Fire, which is coming November 6th on the film’s Facebook page.

Synopsis:
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire begins as Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) has returned home safe after winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games along with fellow tribute Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson). Winning means that they must turn around and leave their family and close friends, embarking on a “Victor’s Tour” of the districts. Along the way Katniss senses that a rebellion is simmering, but the Capitol is still very much in control as President Snow (Donald Sutherland) prepares the 75th Annual Hunger Games (The Quarter Quell) – a competition that could change Panem forever.
