It’s been a while since anyone has tried to create a new version of Oscar Wilde’s iconic novel The Picture of Dorian Gray, but inevitably a new adaptation has to come up every generation or so; that’s why the book is iconic.
THR reports this morning that An Ideal Husband/The Importance of Being Earnest producer Barnaby Thompson and director Oliver Parker are re-teaming for the new Gray, which will star Ben Barnes (The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian) in the titular role.
Not much is revealed as to how they will be updating the tale, only that they want a “visceral, dark horror story”, which is fine by me! Shooting is expected to start as early as the end of July of this year.
