Showtime Will Not Let Dexter Die
Of all the possible outcomes of the Showtime series "Dexter," the one that we actually got was probably the most shocking and not at all in a good way. If you haven't seen it yet, consider yourself lucky and know that this story contains spoilers.
Producer John Goldwyn sat down with The Vulture and divulged the fact that Showtime INSISTED Dexter live. “They won’t let us kill him. Showtime was very clear about that. When we told them the arc for the last season, they just said, ‘Just to be clear, he’s going to live.’ There were a lot of endings discussed because it was a very interesting problem to solve, to bring it to a close.”
Yep, having him turn into a deadbeat dad who leaves his only child with a psychopath that doesn't have the foresight to wear a hat when the entire state of Florida is looking for her and being forced to live the life of a lumberjack while his sister's corpse rots with the bodies of dozens of lowlifes at the bottom of the ocean, you know, like she apparently deserved to, well, that was quite the solution to come up with.
Harry is spinning in his grave.
