Zoey Deutch Talks Upcoming Flick Vampire AcademySet to bite its way into theaters next year, Vampire Academy tells the story of half-human/half-vampire Rose Hathaway, played by teen star Zoey Deutch.

Deutch retracted her fangs and sat down with MTV to talk about the movie, revealing that she was quite impressed with how well writer Dan Waters was able to so accurately write female teen characters. “I don’t know why he can capture a 17-year-old girl’s way of speaking, but he really can,” she said. “That’s one of the things that initially struck me about the script, that it was able to capture the hilarity of being a teenager so vividly. And I know because I’m a teenager.”

She also spoke about how comfortable she was shooting nights, which is pretty much a given when you’re making a vampire movie. “I felt, like, totally happy and content and fine with adjusting to night shoots and being away from home for four months,” said the young actress. “It was a joy. And I think a lot of that has to do with the fact that I became so close to everyone in the cast, including Lucy [Fry], who is my best friend now, truly. I talk to her every day, and Mark Waters, who is the director, he’s wonderful. He really made me feel at home.”

Based on the bestselling book series by Richelle Mead, the film opens in theaters on February 14, 2014. In the meantime you can check out the trailer below!
