Final Scoring Session for Dexter Ends with a Bloody FinaleAward-winning composer Daniel Licht scored the final episode of “Dexter,” and he made a companion video of the final scoring session that ends with a rather bloody finale itself! Check it out, and get ready for the show’s last episode tomorrow night.

Known for his eccentric scoring techniques, over the years Licht has treated the “Dexter” audience to sounds of tethered duct tape, playing wine glasses, and scraping surgical tools through his score for the series. His goal with his unorthodox instrumentation and inventive instruments is to create the ultimate psychological effect on the audience.

“I incorporate the sound of a surgical tool clanking against a wooden block or a knife cutting through an animal carcass with a full orchestra to illustrate the depth of each killing Dexter commits, whilst having a cognitive response from the audience,” stated Licht.

Michael C. Hall said, “Dan creates the aural landscape that sets the tone for us. I feel like it’s a fundamental part, as much as any character.”

Say what you will about the quality of the series itself these days (and most of us have plenty to say), the quality of the music has never wavered, and we look forward to hearing what Mr. Licht ends up doing next.
