Pearl Krueger Adds a Supernatural Spin to Suspense Novel The Chosen Ones
The Chosen Ones, Volume 1 of Pearl Krueger's The Gifted Series, is a paranormal novel set in modern-day New England that highlights a series of mysterious kidnappings and their sinister supernatural foundations. Intrigued? Read on for the details.
A single kidnapping is frightening. A series of kidnappings occurring within a span of two weeks on one of America’s most traveled highways, U.S. Route 1 on the East Coast, is equal parts bewildering and terrifying.
In her debut mystery/suspense novel The Chosen Ones, Pearl Krueger tells the story of how a string of kidnappings leaves an F.B.I. agent, the sister of one of the victims, and an unlikely little girl all working feverishly to find the kidnapped victims. This first title in Krueger’s new series begins when Dr. Cassandra Michaels, heading for a dental seminar in Bar Harbor, finds herself navigating through a dense fog in a mysterious town called Land’s End that strangely enough cannot be found on a map. A short while later, many miles away in Boston, Cassandra’s sister, Samantha, awakens from a nightmare in which she hears the echoes of her sister screaming. Prescient and intuitive, Samantha realizes she is having psychic visions centered around the victims.
Having been briefed on the kidnappings, missing persons F.B.I. agent Ben Fuller soon realizes this latest victim is the younger sister of his old girlfriend Samantha, who is now a detective sergeant with the homicide division of the Boston PD and determined to aid in any and all efforts to find her sister. A heartbeat too aware of their shared past, Ben and Samantha work together, guided by Samantha’s powerful visions, to find and free the missing victims. Unexpectedly aided in their task by seven-year-old Ellie Fisher, whose parents are among the missing, Samantha and Ben come to realize the kidnappings are part of a serial supernatural plot that is far more sinister than they ever could have dreamed.
In order to save the remaining victims and finally end the twenty-five-year cycle of kidnappings, human sacrifice, and terror that Land’s End and its inhabitants systematically spread, Ben must trust and believe in Samantha and work with her and Ellie to thwart the forces of the supernatural. Krueger comments, "This is an escape from the real world, with lots of mystery and nail-biting suspense and a touch of the supernatural thrown in. Who doesn’t love trying to solve a puzzle? I know I do."
