Lead & Director Set for Dead of Night

Brandon Routh to toplines Dead of NightFrom comics to film back to comics and now on to film again, Dylan Dog just will not die. Though It can’t seem to keep its title in place for some strange reason.

Variety has officially confirmed this morning that Brandon Routh (Superman Returns) will topline Dead of Night, the latest adaptation of the popular Italian comic book Dylan Dog (which had major influences on Cemetery Man), with Kevin Munroe (TMNT) in the director’s chair.

For those unfamiliar, Dylan Dog is a private investigator who’s drawn into the world of the undead, hunting monsters that try and make their claim on London. Platinum Studios are producing the film alongside Hyde Park. Dylan Dog, the comic, was first published in Italy back in 1986 and has been translated to 17 languages (!) since. So I guess a straight-up adaptation is long overdue, eh? Just didn’t think it’d be helmed by the guy who brought back the Ninja Turtles…

    Officially confirmed, yes.

This is just now being confirmed? We’ve been reporting Routh as part of Dylan Dog for a year now.

I liked Cemetary Man a lot and I liked the collections that Dark Horse released a few years ago. I’m not sure about Routh…he kinda strikes me as just really bland, though I’ll admit I’ve only ever seen him in Superman Returns playing a, well, really bland character.

    I’ll check it out.
