David Green Named New Director of Comic Book Adaptation LoreAbout a year ago, we reported that Barry Sonnenfeld would be directing the feature film adaptation of IDW’s graphic novel Lore, with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson signed on to star. Though The Rock will still be laying the smack down in the film, a new director has been hired to helm the project.

As per The Hollywood Reporter, David Green has been named the new director after budget disagreements forced Sonnenfeld to step down. This will be a big-time step up for Green, who previously directed a low budget sci-fi film for Disney called Echo, which will be released next year. Echo was Green’s first ever feature, made after a string of short films.

Written by Cory Goodman and Jeremy Lott, Lore tells of a secret society of shepherds (they herd monsters) that has long held the line on the encroachment of mythological creatures, and when the succession line is broken in modern days, a woman finds herself shouldering the responsibility to stop the creatures’ return. The film has been compared to Men in Black, which was of course directed by Barry Sonnenfeld.

Andrew Lazar will produce with David Alpert and Rick Jacobs, with Ted Adams, Ashley Wood and Barry Sonnenfeld executive producing.
