Ben Affleck Leaves The Stand to Portray Batman; New Director Being Sought

Ben Affleck Leaves The Stand to Portray Batman; New Director Being SoughtWhile the Internet is still shitting itself over the news that Ben Affleck is going to be the next Batman (shut up and give the guy a chance, why don't ya?), his donning of the cape and cowl has left Warner Bros. without a director for its new version of The Stand. However...

According to THR, Scott Cooper (Crazy Heart) is in talks to direct and rewrite The Stand, the adaptation of Stephen King’s epic novel being made by Warner Bros. and CBS Films.

Jimmy Miller and Roy Lee are producing the project, which previously had Ben Affleck attached to direct. Affleck is now prepping to star in Gone Girl and will play Batman in Warner's Man of Steel sequel and became unavailable. Speaking of that sequel... as long as the bat suit doesn't have nipples and Batman doesn't sound like he's suffering from the world's worst sore throat, I'm personally okay with the casting.

The Stand is a story of good vs. evil after a virus wipes out most of the American population. It features dozens of characters (including such memorable ones as the Trashcan Man and Mother Abigail) and overlapping storylines running over many years as it tells of a group of survivors fighting the Antichrist-like Randall Flagg.

Look for more on this one soon.
