Splatterhouse Splatters Onto the Nintendo Switch

Horror gamers are in for one hell of a treat, because the original Splatterhouse will soon be playable on the Nintendo Switch.

Originally released in arcades in 1988 before coming to PC and TurboGrafx-16 the following year with an early content advisory warning (the ESRB wasn’t formed until 1994), Namco’s Splatterhouse featured a hockey mask-wearing Jason Voorhees lookalike named Rick as he searches for his girlfriend across the accursed West Mansion. It proved to be such a hit that it was followed by a bunch of sequels and an ultraviolent remake in 2010 (which included the original game as a bonus feature).

Splatterhouse will be included in the upcoming Namco Museum compilation, which will include other classic games from Namco’s back-catalogue including Pac-Man, SkyKid, Tank Force and The Tower of Druaga. It will arrive on the Switch on July 28 for $29.99, and can be pre-ordered over on Nintendo’s official website.

You can catch a glimpse of Splatterhouse from 0:18-0:21 in the Namco Museum trailer below.
