IFC to Deliver My Amityville Horror, Errors of the Human Body, and Antiviral in August
The International Film Channel is more than just "Comedy Bang! Bang!" and Marc Maron. They also release some great films from time to time. And in August, they've got two horror flicks to tickle your scary bone and one seriously chilling documentary.
On August 6, IFC and MPI Home Video will release Antiviral and My Amityville Horror, and they'll follow that up with an August 13 release of Errors of the Human Body. All three films will be released on DVD with Antiviral also being available on Blu-ray.
Antiviral follows the story of Syd March, an employee at a clinic that sells injections of live viruses harvested from sick celebrities to rabid fans who wish to partake in the ultimate form of communion. Syd supplements his income by selling illegal samples of these viruses on the black market, smuggling them out of the clinic in his own body. When he becomes infected with the disease that kills superstar Hannah Geist, Syd becomes a target for collectors and obsessed fans. He must unravel the mystery surrounding the starlet's death before he too meets a morbid end.
My Amityville Horror Synopsis
For the first time in 35 years, child eyewitness Daniel Lutz recounts his version of the infamous Amityville haunting that terrified his family in 1975. His parents' story of their 28 horrifying days in the allegedly possessed house on Ocean Avenue in Amityville, Long Island, was first told in Jay Anson's best-selling book The Amityville Horror, which recounted the Lutzes' ordeal after moving into the Dutch Colonial 13 months after a young man had shot and killed six members of his family there. The 1979 horror film, starring James Brolin and Margot Kidder, was a monster hit and has to date inspired nine sequels that have earned hundreds of millions of dollars. The films, and the original story, have both captivated and frustrated the public since their release.
Errors of the Human Body Synopsis
A slick, tense sci-fi thriller in the vein of early David Cronenberg, Errors of the Human Body is a journey into the disastrous consequences of experimentation gone horribly wrong. Reeling from his recent divorce and the devastating loss of his infant son to a rare genetic mutation, Canadian geneticist Geoff Burton (Michael Eklund, The Call) relocates to Dresden, Germany, to work on a groundbreaking new project. Together with his former intern Rebekka (Karoline Herfurth, Brian De Palma's Passion), he starts developing a human regenerative gene that could prevent the tragedy that befell his son from ever happening again. But matters prove increasingly difficult as jealous co-workers, old romances and personal demons all threaten to impede his progress. As Geoff comes maddeningly close to a medical breakthrough, he begins to spiral out of control. Now he must determine how far he's truly willing to go to atone for the errors of his past.
