Elm Street Writer Pecks at Universal's Bird BoxMama director Andy Muschietti has a new project lined up at Universal called Bird Box, and now he was a writer in tow to help him bring it to the big screen! Read on for details.

According to The Wrap, Universal Pictures is turning to Eric Heisserer, who penned the studio's remake of The Thing as well as the Nightmare on Elm Street redux, to write Bird Box, an adaptation of Josh Malerman's manuscript.

Details are scant at the moment, but we can tell you that the story centers on “a blindfolded threesome comprised of a woman and two children who make their way down a river in a seemingly post-apocalyptic setting.
