Universal Studios’ House of Horrors Closing Up Shop

First the Jaws attraction sets sail for the junkyard, and now this. Universal Studios’ Universal House of Horrors attraction is closing its doors this coming September 1st. There’s just no love for the classics anymore.

Sure Jaws was even more tragic as it was around for so long, and admittedly, the year ’round attraction was on the tame side of the fence, but it stood for something. The news comes to us from Inside Universal, who write: “Universal’s House of Horrors will close permanently on September 1, 2014. The attraction will be replaced by a venue with dining, shopping and entertainment options.”

Introduced in 2007 as a replacement to Van Helsing: Fortress Dracula (thank god), Universal’s House of Horrors was a year-round maze modeled after Universal’s classic movie monsters, including Frankenstein, Dracula, and The Wolf Man.
