Shocking news is coming out of California today as legendary comedian Robin Williams has passed on at the age of 67. A pop culture icon in every conceivable way, Williams will forever be remembered for the millions of laughs he brought to the world… but there were a couple of screams as well.
In addition to his comedic stylings Williams never starred in a true horror movie, but he did flirt with the genre for sure in movies like Dead Again, Insomnia, and One Hour Photo that latter of which was absolutely chilling.
Suicide is suspected but as of yet unconfirmed.
“Robin Williams passed away this morning. He has been battling severe depression of late,” his publicist said in a statement. “This is a tragic and sudden loss. The family respectfully asks for their privacy as they grieve during this very difficult time.”
Williams was nominated for an Oscar for Best Actor three times and took home an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in 1997’s Good Will Hunting.
At this time we here at Dread Central would like to offer our sincerest condolences to Robin’s friends, family, and constituents. Thank you for all of the laughs and smiles you’ve given the world, Robin. It’s a true shame that the world couldn’t do the same for you. Hopefully now you have found peace. God bless you.
